Vodnikov Dom na Velem Polju

A hiker's outpost on the crossroads in the heart of Julian Alps

Altitude
1817 m
Season
May - October
Capacity
70

The main advantage of the Vodnik Lodge is its location - it is situated at the crossroads of routes that lead to Pokljuka, Krma, Bohinj, Dolič, and Planika, so it’s truly a great starting point for a hiking adventure. The lodge was built at the end of the 19th century and was named after the Slovenian Enlightenment poet Valentin Vodnik, to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of his ascent of Small Triglav.

The lodge has its own drinking water source and is a great Alpine post where you can rest and get something to eat when hiking to or from cabins that lie higher up in the mountains. It’s also a good stopping point to spend the night on hut to hut tours. The lodge can accommodate 70 people and has 50 seats in its dining rooms and in front of the lodge.
